A former Missouri S&T football player has returned to the university as the new chair of the mining and nuclear engineering department. Braden Lusk recently took over the position after returning to Missouri from Kentucky. He’s held several positions since earning his Ph.D., but the excitement of what S&T had to offer sparked his interest.
“It’s that shiny thing,” he said of his discipline, noting the almost-primal fascination we have with fireworks and other combustibles. “We can blow stuff up. It’s a really good lure for getting those kids excited about other aspects of mining.
‘We’ve sent quite a few people (in our program) into the explosives industry,” he added. “But I think we’ve sent a lot more into the mining industry.”
