HASC had previously announced that it would hold markups during the month of May. According to Politico, SASC also delayed its plans due to the debt-limit standoff. HASC Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA) released a statement on the postponement, urging Republicans to raise the debt ceiling and to 鈥済et back to the regular order of business and markup the defense bill in committee.鈥
