Enrolling in Benefits
As a full-time employee, you have 31 days from your hire date, or date of eligibility, to enroll in your insurance benefits. Visit enrolling in benefits for the first time to learn how to complete your enrollment. We encourage you to read researching insurance options before you enroll so you can be sure to choose the benefit options that are right for you. Remember, if you don't enroll within 31 days of your hire date, you will be defaulted to employee-only medical coverage in the Healthy Savings Plan.
Contacting Human Resources
Human Resources can be a great source of support for you, whether you encounter an issue or need an objective point of view. We encourage you to reach out and get to know the employee relations contact at your university: , , , or UM System.
University Policies
For your reference, there are two main sets of policies across the UM System: Collected Rules and Regulations and the UM System Policies (which includes the HR Resources Manual). Your university may have additional policies. Collected Rules and Regulations are formally approved by the 91Ï㽶¶ÌÊÓƵ Board of Curators and are the highest in the hierarchy of policies. UM System Policies are an expansion of the Collected Rules and Regulations on issues primarily related to people, business and administration.
